Pin layout and polarity
Define the number of contacts, pitch, current path, signal path and protection against reverse or offset connection. Pogo-pin spring force and travel must match the mechanical design.
Magnetic force and user experience
Too little force causes unstable contact; too much force makes separation difficult or stresses the housing. Target force should be measured on the complete product, not the magnet alone.
PCB and protection
The connector may require a PCB for identification, protection, LEDs or control. PCB size, copper area, components and heat dissipation must fit the housing.
Reliability verification
Typical checks include contact resistance, temperature rise, short-circuit behavior, cycle life, pull direction and contamination sensitivity.
